Varsity 4 Super 6 baseball: Bishop Snyder moves up to No. 2, Episcopal moves into rankings

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Varsity 4 Super 6 high school baseball rankings will be published on Fridays during the regular season. Records are through Feb. 27.

1. (1) Trinity Christian (4-0, Class 2A)

Quality wins: Beachside, Creekside, North Marion, University Christian.

Notable: The Conquerors beat North Marion 2-1 and then pulled away from Creekside (7-1) since our last Super 6. Gage Petrutz (.467), Ethan Wheeler (.444), Chris Reali (.364), Aiden Arnett (.364) and Brady Harris (.357) are leading a stacked Trinity lineup. They’ve got Columbia up next on Saturday.

2. (3) Bishop Snyder (6-0, Class 2A)

Quality wins: Baldwin, Columbia, Tocoi Creek.

Notable: The Cardinals are dealing. Wins over St. Augustine (10-0) and previously unbeaten Tocoi Creek (8-3) since our last Super 6. A big clash against Providence on Friday night. Cody Boshell three homers. Tripp Hannah is hitting .429 and Josh Murray follows at .421.

3. (2) Bolles (5-1, Class 2A)

Quality wins: Ponte Vedra, St. Johns Country Day, University Christian.

Notable: The Bulldogs went 1-1 since our last Super 6, a 2-1 win in 12 over a very good Englewood team, and a 9-2 loss to 4-4 Fletcher. They’ve got a good Baldwin team and then Menendez up next to round out the week.

4. (4) St. Johns Country Day (5-2, Class 1A)

Quality win: Middleburg, Valdosta (Ga.), Suwannee

Notable: The defending 1A state champs have gotten on a roll. They’ve won four straight after a 5-3 loss to Lincoln. They racked up wins over Valdosta, Florida, Middleburg and Suwannee since our last Super 6. TJ Sunderhaus (.360) and Brayden Harris (.346) lead the offense. Harris is leading the staff (2-0, 26 Ks, 11.2 IP, 0.00 ERA).

5. (6) Fernandina Beach (6-0, Class 3A)

Quality wins: Atlantic Coast, Fletcher.

Notable: The Pirates beat Wolfson (8-2) and Hilliard (12-2) since our last Super 6. That 5-2 win over Fletcher two weeks ago looks even better now after the Senators clocked Bolles this week. Tanner Jones (.455, HR) leads Fernandina Beach at the plate.

6. (NR) Episcopal (7-1, Class 2A)

Quality wins: Benedictine (Ga.), Christ’s Church, Fletcher, Sandalwood.

Notable: Excellent start for the Eagles, whose only loss (10-4) is to perennial power and reigning Class 5A state champ Tampa Jesuit. Gehrig Severidt (.500), Dominic DeLoreto (.458), Jack Ottesen (.440) and William Beard (.429) lead the battalion of Eagles hitting .400 or better.
